Las Vegas Church Weddings
Many local residents of Las Vegas may still want to hold their ceremony at one of the local churches. Church weddings are the traditional venue and are not limited on time as some of the wedding chapels may be. Couples who are members of a particular church will find it much easier to set up their ceremony than for those from out of town. The churches most likely will have certain rules about weddings.
Church weddings may be more expensive but most likely the couple is already familiar with the church pastor or minister. Your church may hold a variety of functions. This means you should try and reserve the date early. Make sure you speak with the minister or pastor well in advance of your ceremony date. Many of the local Christian churches require the wedding couple to take pre-marital classes. Do not reserve a wedding reception site until you have the church reserved.
There may be a wedding planner at the church. Some smaller churches may do this on a voluntary basis while others may charge. You will want to give a donation to the church regardless. These individuals should be able to assist you with the details of your wedding.
If the church should have a reception hall they may have a list of preferred vendors they use including photographers. Unlike the chapels the churches may allow you to bring your own at no additional fee. The same rules may also apply to the videographer. Make sure they are given the rules as some churches will not permit photography in certain areas. You could eliminate this if you do select a preferred vendor as they would already know what is permitted and what is not.
If you are catholic and coming from out of town and prefer a catholic ceremony, you will be faced with some difficulties. This is particularly difficult for those who are Roman Catholic. Most catholic churches will not permit you to be married unless you are one of their parishioners. Usually this means that you need to be attending mass regularly and taking marriage counseling classes. Another difficulty faced is if you are divorced. Then there would be the annulment process to go through. This can take a long time, up to one year. You may even be rejected because you have lived together.
Roman Catholic priests in particular as well as most catholic priests will not come to a Vegas wedding chapel, nor hotel or casino to perform a wedding. There is no quick way to a catholic ceremony in Las Vegas. Local residents are advised to be married in their local parish. For them the process of a church wedding is more simplified.
There are many churches in Las Vegas that offer some beautiful and meaningful wedding ceremonies. You may be able to locate a church who will wed those from out of town but it will take some research.
The ceremonies performed in the Las Vegas wedding chapels are basically civil ceremonies. Non-denominational so God is not mentioned unless you request this. Most officiants marrying you will ask if you wish to have God mentioned in your ceremony or not. These ceremonies are not in a church but they are beautifully conducted and bring just as much meaning to this very eventful day.
Most couples come to Vegas for a wedding ceremony that is simple and quick. Sometimes well intentioned family members cause couples to chuck it all and head for Vegas so they can have the ceremony their way.
